Thoras Dye

Mr. Dye has worked as an archaeologist performing cultural resource management in the Southwest since 1994. As a project director and field supervisor, Mr. Dye has performed archaeological survey on more than 300,000 acres in many areas of New Mexico including El Paso Gap, Guadalupe Rim, Sacramento Mountains and foothills, Big Dog Canyon, Broke Off Mountain, Cienega School, eastern Otero Mesa Rim, Cornudas Mountain, Loco Hills, Artesia, Roswell, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, the Lincoln National Forest, Cibola National Forest, San Luis Mesa near Cuba, and in the valley and foothills near Carrizozo. These surveys have given him the experience to identify and accurately record a wide variety of archaeological resources using a number of different techniques and tools (GPS, topographic maps, aerial photographs, etc.).

As a project director Mr. Dye is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing small- and large-scale surveys.  His specialty is conducting seismic surveys, specifically in southeastern New Mexico.  He has been successful in coordinating the efforts of our geophysical clients, multiple Lone Mountain crews, and the needs of the reviewing agency, to promote smooth-running, efficient, and compliant cultural resource surveys.  He has also participated in several excavation projects including nine months at the Palace of the Governor’s in Santa Fe, the historic town of Fairbank, Arizona, and testing projects in Placitas, New Mexico.

Mr. Dye’s ability to multitask, and his excellent communication and organizational skills have been key in keeping large-scale (some as large as 40,000+ acres), fast-paced projects on schedule and within budget, to the satisfaction of the client and the regulators.
