Thoras Dye
Mr. Dye has worked
as an archaeologist performing cultural resource management in the Southwest
since 1994. As a project director and field supervisor, Mr. Dye
has performed archaeological survey on more than 300,000 acres in many areas of
New Mexico including El Paso Gap, Guadalupe Rim, Sacramento Mountains and
foothills, Big Dog Canyon, Broke Off Mountain, Cienega School, eastern Otero
Mesa Rim, Cornudas Mountain, Loco Hills, Artesia, Roswell, Carlsbad Caverns
National Park, the Lincoln National Forest, Cibola National Forest, San Luis
Mesa near Cuba, and in the valley and foothills near Carrizozo. These surveys
have given him the experience to identify and accurately record a wide variety
of archaeological resources using a number of different techniques and tools
(GPS, topographic maps, aerial photographs, etc.).
As a project
director Mr. Dye is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing small-
and large-scale surveys. His specialty
is conducting seismic surveys, specifically in southeastern New Mexico .
He has been successful in coordinating the efforts of our geophysical
clients, multiple Lone
Mountain crews, and the
needs of the reviewing agency, to promote smooth-running, efficient, and
compliant cultural resource surveys. He
has also participated in several excavation projects including nine months at
the Palace of the Governor’s in Santa Fe , the
historic town of Fairbank , Arizona ,
and testing projects in Placitas ,
New Mexico .
Mr. Dye’s ability to
multitask, and his excellent communication and organizational skills have been
key in keeping large-scale (some as large as 40,000+ acres), fast-paced
projects on schedule and within budget, to the satisfaction of the client and
the regulators.
