Historical Archaeology Lone Mountain’s personnel have participated in numerous survey projects and National Register eligibility determinations for historic remains throughout the U.S. These include resources related to mining, railroads, homesteading and settlement, ranching and agriculture, logging, roads and trails, military (including Cold War and World War II) activities, urban industrial facilities, and oil and gas extraction. Included in this experience is the excavation of a nineteenth-century logging camp, testing at nineteenth-century Fort Lowell, ruins stabilization at the eighteenth-century Spanish Terrenate Presidio, and excavation of twentieth-century homesteads. Because several staff members have advanced degrees and experience in the discipline of history, including architectural history, they are able to evaluate the historic built environment from a multi-disciplinary perspective, contributing to an assessment of the social, political, technological, and aesthetic significance of historic resources |
